I love Nike’s new print ads. You know the ones if you have seen them. Thunder thighs, big butts and inspirational words to go with them. Yes, I think they are effective at their job, I would buy Nike products because of the inspiration of these ads. Many women at my gym have expressed that they feel the same way when we talked about the ads. Its not often an advertisement will warrant a discussion among women but these ads do.

I really like the trends in advertising these days with the Nike ads and the Dove ads. Real women are beautiful and since the majority of us are not a size 0 and tall and thin and waiflike, it is good to see some women that really do look like the majority of us. The Nike ads show the “big butt” and the “thunder thighs” but of course these are not flabby “big butts” and “thunder thighs”, these are bodyparts that have worked and sculpted themselves with hours of work at the gym, or running, swimming, cycling whatever. These are strong and beautiful bodyparts, so they still give us something to aspire to. But the difference is that it is achievable, with some sweat and hardwork you too, can be the proud owner of a pair of beautiful “Thunder Thighs”. And of course Nike is there to provide you with the products to help you get there. Brilliant, really!

Nike hit their mark. Fitness minded women love these ads, and isn’t that their target audience?
