10164If you are trying to lose weight it may be wise to skip caloric drinks with your meals. In a recent study at Pennsylvania State University, 44 women were served lunch once per week for six weeks. They were given 12.7 ounces of either water, cola, diet cola, orange juice or 1% milk. When the women drank the caloric drinks, the cola, orange juice or milk, they consumed an extra 104 calories without feeling any fuller. Apparently solid foods activate your appetite controls while liquid calories just increase the total calories consumed. If you are trying to lose weight stick with water or unsweetened tea with meals.
