One of the most difficult of dieting is consuming fewer calories. Those hunger pains and urges to eat and snack are simply too hard to resist. Many appetite suppressant diet products help reduce calorie intake, but they fail to make you feel full, which leads to further snacking. Recently studies have shown the oil from the Korean pine nut can be effective in reducing those appetite suppressant hunger pains by giving you a “full tummy” feeling. The ingredient in the pine nut is called pinnothin.
Two hormones cholecystokinin and glucagon-like peptide1 play an important role in the body. These two hormones signal the brain that you are full. The problem is that many people eat too fast and have over eaten before the brain has received these signals. However as one study clearly showed within 30-60 minutes after taking a 3 gram dose of pinnothin in the form of oil the release of the satiety hormone of cholecystokinin (CCK) glucagon-like peptide1 (GLP1) in the blood was significantly increased, compared to those who had taken a placebo. Taking pinnothin a half an hour prior to eating can effectively appetite suppressant suppress appetite allowing a person to consume fewer calories and still feel full. For example prospective food intake was reduced after administration of the natural metabolites of pinnothin. In another study participants also showed a significant effect on food intake (9% reduction) and a trend on caloric intake (7% reduction).
The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition also reported on a study of the effectiveness of the Korean pine nut. This study evaluated whether Korean pine nut free fatty acids (FFA) and triglycerides (TG) work as an appetite suppressant. Korean pine nut FFA produced the greatest amount of CCK-8 release (493 pg/ml) relative to the other fatty acids and control (46 pg/ml). Other studies have shown the same or similar results. Pinnothin along with a healthy diet of whole foods and a regular exercise program is very effective in suppressing hunger pains, reducing caloric intake and creating a feeling of fullness. The bottom line is this oil of the Korean Pine Nut can play a major role in fighting obesity
