10128McDonald’s announced Tuesday that they will start printing nutritional information including calories, fat grams, protein, carbohydrates and sodium right on the packaging of their food. The information will look similar to labels found on food in grocery stores. McDonald’s plans to have the new packaging completely implemented in more than 20000 of its restaurants by the end of 2006.
McDonalds has recently implemented a campaign to promote more balanced, active lifestyles. They have elimated the “Super Size” option and have added several entree-sized salads and grilled chicken sandwiches to the menu. All of this followed the release of Morgan Spurlock’s film “Super Size Me”, the tale of how he subsisted on nothing but McDonald’s food for an entire month and the negative effect it had on his health.
One man can make a difference. Thank you, Morgan Spurlock!
