I just read an interesting article about a new diet book out there. Actually, I don’t know how new it really is. It is backed by Prevention Magazine so it has some credibility with me because I know everything else I have ever read that Prevention put out was good, sound information and advice.

It’s called “The Sugar Solution” and it’s basically a GI diet. That means a diet based on the Glycemic Index which is a measurement of how fast food is turned into glucose in your body. The slower the better. Straight Cola and other sugar drinks turn into glucose almost instantly. Sweet potatoes and Oatmeal take a long time to convert to glucose.

So basically, healthy carbs, lean protiens, and controlling your blood sugar levels. Sounds like a lot of the current diets that are out there. But the current crop of diets books do seem to be promoting a more healthy lifestyle than some of the diets from the past.

For more information about the glycemic index, you can read an article I wrote that explains it in more detail at glycemic index and your diet from March 2006 on this blog.
