DASH Diet

As if you didn’t have enough “diet plans, information, books, strategies, etc, etc etc. Here’s another one to add to your list–The DASH diet.

This is actually health-focused rather than weight loss focused (what a concept!). DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. Well that’s important as Hypertension is one of the leading causes of heart problems and it can be controlled with diet.

A key to the DASH diet is to cut down or eliminate the bad fats–that is saturated fats, trans fats and cholesterol. Another key is to reduce your sodium intake. Like all healthy eating plans, the DASH diet also emphasizes fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

For more information about the DASH diet go to dashdiet.org and check it out. Even if you don’t suffer from hypertension it appears to be a healthy way to eat.
