Study Finds Link Between Obesity and Depression
Apparently the “Jolly Fat” person is a myth (with the exception of Santa Claus, of course!). A recent study of over 9000 people adults found that mood and anxiety disorders including depression are about 25% more common in obese people than in non-obese people.
I don’t know why that would come as a surprise to anybody! Obesity stops people from enjoying their life–sometimes just from the stigma that comes with it, sometimes from the lack of the ability to do certain activities, sometimes from hurtful behavior from other people.
