Momma (and others) always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well that is true. Think about it. Break Fast- that’s what breakfast is all about, you are breaking your fast and starting to eat again. After going without food for so many hours your blood sugar is low, your body is starting to go into starvation mode and your body is starting to hoard fat and calories.

Research has told us that our bodies will conserve energy during times of famine in order to keep us alive. This worked exceptionally well for our ancestors who had to hunt for their next meal but not many of us alive today in developed countries have ever wondered where our next meal is coming from. We live in a time of an abundance of food but our bodies still have the survival mechanisms of the past.

Eating breakfast, if at 4:00 am when you get up or 7:00 am when you get up, is one of the most important things you can do to jumpstart and increase your metabolism throughout the day.

There is some evidence that doing cardio on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning may help you burn more calories but right after your workout you should EAT BREAKFAST. If you don’t work out in the morning, when you get up, you should EAT BREAKFAST!

If you get into the habit of eating a good breakfast, you will find that you consume less calories throughout the day and you are less hungry throughout the day. Many people claim that they don’t feel hungry for breakfast so they skip it. If you are not hungry at breakfast, eat anyway. You’ll get used to it and soon you will be hungry at breakfast and it will become second nature.

Breakfast eaters are healthier and leaner than their non-breakfast eating counterparts. Try it.
