We all know how important Cardiovascular exercise is for us. It helps our heart and lungs, it helps us burn more fat for weight loss and there are many other benefits.
But you may have heard that you need to keep your heart rate up for 20 minutes or more to get benefits. Well, recently I read about a study that proved that 10 minute sessions spread throughout the day gave just as much benefit as a sustained effort. In other words, three 10 minute sessions gave the equivalent benefit of one 30 minute session.
This is great news for those of us that are busy, busy! How much fun could you have if you just took a 10 minute break every 2 or 3 hours and jumped rope, ran up the stairs and around the building. You will need to get your heart rate into a training zone in order to get the benefits but that is easy enough to do if you just get after it!
And then you can skip the longer cardio session and still reap the benefits. Sounds great to me!!
