Resolutions!

It’s the beginning of the New Year and it is resolution time. January is the big month. Most of us maintain our resolutions through about January and then they fall by the wayside. But a few of us persist. A few of us reach our New Years resolutions and goals.

One resolution you should try, try and try again until you succeed. If you smoke, you should quit, period. There is not any more important thing you can do for your health and future and the health and future of your family than to quit smoking!

If your goal is to lose weight or get healthier by exercising more or eating better, you may find more success if you set your goals as performance goals rather than number goals. For example, rather than saying “I will lose 15 lbs. by February 15″, say “I will exercise 4 hours per week and eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables per day”. Then set a time to adjust your performance goals every month. With performance goals, you will know you are on the right track. It is completely achievable and if you keep at it you will reach the numbers goals. Because as anyone over the age of 25 to 30 or so who has tried to lose weight, sometimes it doesn’t come off as quickly as we would like but if you do your exercises and eating right, it will come off!
