Look around, there is plenty of advice on what to eat for the holidays and what not to eat. Eat turkey instead of ham, eat sweet potatoes instead of mashed potatoes and gravy. Don’t eat the fudge, eat just one chocolate kiss instead. The average American gains 7+ lbs. over the holidays and so on and so on and so on.

Well, I’m going to suspend giving out the usual healthy advice, for just one day; just one day. Christmas is just one day a year. Even if you do eat more than you should, just one day probably won’t hurt you too badly (do take into consideration any health problems, however). But if you are just concerned about weight loss, forget about it for just this one day. Enjoy, love, savor the day, the moments of your life on this Christmas day.

But do remember, food is not the best part of the day. Being with your family, enjoying your friends, opening presents, all of those things can bring you more pleasure and sweeter memories than food. Savor the real joys of Christmas and not just the food!
